Maarga (मार्ग, meaning "path") needed a complete digital platform for spiritual pilgrimage booking — from discovering curated sacred journeys to end-to-end booking management. The founder, a senior railway officer, needed a tech partner who could handle the entire stack: a customer-facing mobile app, an internal admin panel, a scalable backend API, and ongoing operations. The platform had to handle OTP authentication, multi-language support (English, Hindi, Marathi), complex booking flows with traveller management, Razorpay payments, logistics tracking, and AI-powered customer support — all while serving a spiritually-minded audience across India.
We built a full-stack platform with four interconnected parts — a Flutter mobile app for pilgrims, a Next.js 16 admin panel for operations, a NestJS 11 backend API, and a marketing website. As a Full Partner engagement, Edifio owns the entire tech ecosystem: from R&D and architecture to development, deployment, and ongoing operations. The platform handles everything from OTP login (Twilio) and Google Sign-In to path discovery, availability-based booking, Razorpay payments, rescheduling, cancellations with refund policies, multi-language support, voice search, push notifications, logistics management (hotels, vehicles, travel tickets), and an AI + human hybrid support chat system.
Deep-dived into the spiritual travel domain — understanding pilgrimage patterns, temple visit workflows, Jyotirlinga routes, festival calendars, and the specific needs of Indian, NRI, and foreign travellers. Identified key differentiators like curated 'paths' vs individual temple bookings.
Designed a 4-part platform architecture: Flutter + GetX mobile app, Next.js 16 admin panel with Recharts analytics, NestJS 11 backend with URI-versioned REST API at /api/v1, and a marketing site. PostgreSQL (Neon) with Drizzle ORM, Redis + BullMQ for job queues, and Swagger/OpenAPI docs.
Built a complete booking lifecycle — date selection with festival availability, traveller management (adult/child, nationality handling, ID document uploads), availability checks, Razorpay payment integration with webhook verification, payment history, rescheduling, and cancellation with automated refund policies.
Built a comprehensive admin panel with dashboard analytics, user management, paths CRUD, temple directory, bookings/payments/refunds, reviews moderation, availability & pricing calendar, logistics (hotels, vehicles, tickets, documents), push notifications, content blocks CMS, audit logs, and an AI + human hybrid support chat system powered by OpenAI.
