SculptIndia needed a premium e-commerce platform built specifically for selling handcrafted sculptures — not a generic Shopify template. The artist, Prem Lata Sarkar (whose work has been selected by the National Gallery of Modern Art), needed a platform that could handle the unique complexities of art commerce: direct purchases for ready-to-ship pieces, made-to-order production timelines, custom commission requests with briefs, and quote-based sales for large or fragile sculptures. Unlike standard e-commerce, every piece is unique, shipping requires special handling, and pricing involves GST calculations for Indian buyers. The platform also needed a powerful admin dashboard for managing a small curated catalog, customer CRM, order and shipping management with AWB tracking, reviews moderation, and a commission workflow.
We built SculptIndia as a full-stack monorepo with a Next.js 16 + React 19 storefront and admin dashboard, a NestJS 11 REST API, and PostgreSQL with Drizzle ORM. The platform supports four unique listing modes — Buy Now (ready to ship), Made-to-Order (custom production timeline), Request Quote (manager-review for large/fragile items), and Commission (fully custom sculpture briefs). The admin dashboard gives the artist full control over works, collections, orders, shipping with label generation, customers, reviews, chat support tickets, and studio settings. We integrated Razorpay for payments (cards, UPI, net banking, wallets), Cloudinary for image hosting, and Redis + BullMQ for background jobs like emails and invoices. An AI chat widget handles customer inquiries with manager handoff.

Built as a monorepo with Next.js 16 frontend (storefront + admin) and NestJS 11 backend API. Used PostgreSQL with Drizzle ORM, Zustand + IndexedDB for cart state, session-based auth with HTTP-only cookies, and full guest checkout support.
Created a comprehensive admin dashboard with role-based access (Owner, Manager, Editor, Customer), works and collections CRUD, order and shipping management with AWB tracking, customer CRM, reviews moderation, chat and support tickets, and an audit log for all admin actions.
Engineered for Indian operations — GST pricing display, Razorpay integration for local payment methods (UPI, cards, net banking, wallets), India-specific shipping workflows, and session-based auth optimized for the local market.
